The Dalmatian chain a cruise draws — Korčula, Mljet, the Elafiti, Dubrovnik — exists whole on the state timetable for eight weeks. Line 9807 runs its full route only 3 July to 30 August. In the off-season it serves Sobra, Šipanska Luka and Dubrovnik alone.
One line carries the southern half of the coast
South of Korčula the scheduled network narrows to very few boats, and the one that matters is state line 9807, a TP Line catamaran. On paper its route is the entire southern chain in one vessel: Ubli on Lastovo, Korčula, Polače and Sobra on Mljet, Šipanska Luka in the Elafiti, then Dubrovnik. In practice it is that line for eight weeks and a short shuttle for the rest of the year.
3 July – 30 August
the only window in which line 9807 runs its full Ubli to Korčula to Polače to Sobra to Šipanska Luka to Dubrovnik route
That is not a reduction in frequency. It is a reduction in the route: in the off-season register period the boat runs Sobra to Šipanska Luka to Dubrovnik, and Ubli, Korčula and Polače are not served by it at all. The clearest proof is in the tariff, where those legs simply have no off-season fare, because there is no sailing to price.
On the line only inside the eight-week window. No off-season fare exists for it. In season, Dubrovnik to Ubli is €14.25
Same window, same absence outside it. In season Dubrovnik to Korčula is €13.55. Off-season the island is reached from Orebić on line 634 instead: 20 minutes, 22 crossings a day between 3 July and 30 August and 14 off-season, berthing at Dominče about 3 km from the town
On the line only in the eight-week window. In season €10.75 from Dubrovnik
Served all year. Dubrovnik to Sobra is €5.40 off-season. Mljet is the one southern island with a scheduled catamaran in winter
Served all year, €4.00 off-season from Dubrovnik. Separately, line 807 runs the Elafiti four times a day Monday to Saturday and twice on Sundays and holidays
The southern terminus of everything. From here the chain does not continue in the register
Written out that way the shape is obvious: the northern three ports of the line are a summer product and the southern three are the year-round service. A cruise itinerary that moves through all six is selling you the summer version regardless of the month printed on it, which is fine in July and a question worth asking in May.
| Port on line 9807 | Full route, 3 Jul – 30 Aug | Off-season register period | Fare from Dubrovnik, in season |

| Korčula | Served | Not served | €13.55 |

The route finder below takes the same register and filters it by season, so you can see what the southern coast looks like in the month you are actually travelling rather than in the month the photographs were taken.
Departing from
Season
Switch it to winter and the southern coast shrinks to two islands and a shuttle. That is the single most useful thing to know before booking a Dalmatian route, and it is the thing no cruise page states. If you want the whole chain, the small-ship comparison prices the same legs, and island hopping covers the northern half from Split.
An August chain sold as a September chain
The itinerary drawn for July is the one that gets reused in the shoulder brochure, because it is the prettiest. From 31 August, Korčula is off line 9807 and the through route has to be assembled from commercial catamarans that carry no public service obligation.
The cost is a substituted leg you did not plan — a road transfer along Pelješac, or a night in the wrong town. Ask any September or October itinerary one question: which boat, on which line, and does that line serve that port in that month.
None of this makes September a bad month. The sea off Hvar is still 22.4 °C and Dubrovnik 21.8 °C, which is warmer than June anywhere on this coast. It makes September a month to plan differently, with fewer sea legs and a base rather than a chain.
What do you need to work out next?
You know when the chain holds. These come next.
Where to stay
Which end of the chain to sleep at?
Only Sobra and Šipanska Luka stay on line 9807 all year.
Getting around
Is Mljet worth building the route around?
It is the one southern island with a catamaran in every season.
When to go
What does September actually lose?
The full 9807 route ended on 30 August; the sea did not.
Planning
Which 2026 dates does this fix?
Seasonal tariff 29 May to 27 September; full chain 3 July to 30 August.
